It is a little over ten days since nursery closed. Honestly, it is extremely hard. However much work I have, or want to do, with a three-year-old at home almost nothing gets done during the day. And it must be hard on him too — no friends to play with, no teachers to see, barely able to go outside, and his parents visibly finding him a nuisance. He must be under a great deal of stress.
To take the edge off some of that, we have pitched a tent indoors. Breakfast inside it, and he is delighted.

What you need:
- Sourdough bread
- Oil-packed sardines
- Dried tomatoes in oil
- Sliced onion
- Cheese
- Black pepper
1. Arrange the sardines in a skillet, lay the sliced onion over them, and put it under the grill on medium heat for about three minutes. Once the sardines have crisped on top and the onion has softened a little, take it out.
Homemade Oil-Packed Sardines2. Lay two or three pieces of the oil-packed dried tomato on a slice of sourdough. Add the sardines, the onion and some cheese, and grill.
Semi-Dried Tomatoes in Olive Oil3. Once the cheese has melted, scatter over black pepper and it is done.
